Position Overview
We are seeking a full-time Electrical Apprenticeship Instructor to deliver classroom and hands-on lab instruction to apprentices enrolled in our Commercial and Residential programs. This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced electrician who is passionate about passing their knowledge on to the next generation of the trade.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver classroom instruction and hands-on lab training at our shop facility for both Commercial (01) and Residential (02) apprenticeship programs
- Develop and maintain curriculum and lesson plans aligned with Washington State requirements and the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Track and maintain accurate records of apprentice in-class hours, attendance, and academic progress
- Monitor and report on student performance and provide feedback and support as needed
- Coordinate with field supervisors and employer partners to ensure training aligns with on-the-job expectations
- Stay current with updates to the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC)
Qualifications
- Valid (01) Washington State Electrical Certificate of Competency (required)
- Meets requirements of WAC 296-05-003(14) or WAC 296-46B-970(5)(d)(i–v)
- Lab portions of Related Supplemental Instruction (RSI) must be instructed by an occupationally qualified (Certified) Electrician; specialty electricians may instruct lab portions of RSI within their scope as defined in WAC 296-46B-920
- Minimum of three years of satisfactory performance in the occupation (may be waived upon committee approval)
- Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC)
- Prior teaching, training, or instructional experience preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to engage and motivate adult learners in both classroom and lab settings
