Job Title: Safety Manager (Mechanical Construction/MEP/HVAC)

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives for a well-established mechanical contractor specializing in commercial and industrial plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical construction projects. This position is responsible for ensuring OSHA compliance, driving a strong safety culture, conducting field inspections, and supporting project teams to maintain safe and efficient job sites.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial or industrial construction safety, particularly within the mechanical, plumbing, or HVAC industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the company's Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) program across multiple construction projects.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and customer safety requirements.
- Conduct regular job site inspections, safety audits, and field observations.
- Perform incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Support pre-task planning by reviewing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Task Hazard Analyses (THAs), permits, and lift plans.
- Deliver new hire orientations, safety training, toolbox talks, and ongoing employee education.
- Monitor field activities involving:
- Fall Protection
- Confined Space
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Hot Work
- Rigging & Material Handling
- Scaffolding & Ladder Safety
- Excavation & Trenching
- Partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen to integrate safety into project planning and execution.
- Maintain safety records, training documentation, and compliance reports.
- Track safety metrics and communicate performance trends to leadership.
- Travel to active construction sites throughout the Denver/Colorado area.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- OSHA 30 Certification (required).
- 5–10 years of progressive Safety/EHS experience within commercial or industrial construction.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices.
- Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
- Ability to lead field safety initiatives and promote a proactive safety culture.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and federal background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- CHST, CSP, STSC, OSHA Authorized Trainer, or other professional safety certifications.
- Experience with mechanical contractors, plumbing, HVAC, piping, or industrial construction projects.
- Experience working on occupied buildings, renovation projects, and multi-trade construction sites.
- Familiarity with safety management systems and construction management software such as Procore or Viewpoint.
Salary : $95,000 - $125,000
