POSITION SUMMARY

The CNC Machine Operator I for Titan Advanced Manufacturing is responsible for operating CNC machines to produce precision components in accordance with work instructions, production travelers, engineering drawings, quality requirements, and supervisor direction. This position supports daily production by loading and unloading parts, monitoring machine operation, completing basic inspections, maintaining accurate documentation, and following established safety and quality procedures.

This role requires a dependable, detail-oriented team member with strong mechanical aptitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining a high standard of safety, quality, and accountability.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

CNC Machine Operation: Safely operate assigned CNC machines, production equipment, and related shop tools according to work instructions and training.

Quality and Inspection Support: Verify parts using basic measuring tools and report nonconforming conditions, quality concerns, or process issues promptly.

Production Accuracy: Follow job travelers, drawings, setup instructions, and supervisor direction to support accurate and efficient production output.

Documentation and Communication: Record production activity, inspection results, scrap, downtime, and machine concerns clearly and accurately.

Safety and Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following PPE requirements, shop rules, and company safety expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

CNC Machine Operation and Production Support

  • Operate CNC mills, lathes, and/or assigned production machinery under established procedures and supervisor direction.
  • Load and unload parts, fixtures, tooling, and materials safely and accurately to support daily production requirements.
  • Monitor machine cycles, part condition, tooling condition, coolant levels, and machine performance during operation.
  • Make basic machine adjustments or offset changes only when trained and authorized by a supervisor or lead machinist.

Quality Inspection and Part Verification

  • Perform basic in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, or other approved measuring tools.
  • Read and follow basic blueprints, work instructions, inspection plans, and production travelers to verify part requirements.
  • Identify and communicate nonconforming parts, machine issues, tooling concerns, or unclear instructions before continuing production.
  • Handle parts carefully to prevent damage, contamination, mix-ups, or quality defects.

Production Documentation and Process Control

  • Complete required production records, inspection logs, job travelers, and system entries accurately and timely.
  • Track part counts, scrap, rework, downtime, and job status in accordance with department expectations.
  • Follow established procedures for material handling, lot control, part identification, and job routing.

Safety, Equipment Care, and Housekeeping

  • Follow all company safety rules, PPE requirements, lockout/tagout expectations, and machine guarding requirements.
  • Compliance to AS9100/ITAR regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, including removal of chips, proper tool storage, and general 5S housekeeping.
  • Report safety concerns, equipment malfunctions, damaged tooling, spills, or maintenance needs to supervision promptly.

Team Communication and Continuous Improvement

  • Communicate job status, quality concerns, material needs, and machine issues with supervisors, leads, quality, and team members.
  • Participate in training, cross-training, and continuous improvement efforts to support production, safety, and quality goals.
  • Maintain professionalism, reliability, and a positive team approach in all workplace interactions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • 0-1 year of manufacturing, machining, machine operation, mechanical, or related production experience preferred; entry-level candidates with strong mechanical aptitude may be considered.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, work orders, job travelers, and basic production requirements.
  • Basic math skills and ability to read measurements accurately.
  • Ability to use or learn basic measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to safe work practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience operating CNC mills, CNC lathes, saws, deburring tools, or other manufacturing equipment.
  • Basic blueprint reading or exposure to dimensional inspection requirements.
  • Experience working in a precision manufacturing, aerospace, industrial, or ISO/quality-controlled environment.
  • Familiarity with shop documentation, ERP/MRP systems, job travelers, or production reporting.
  • Forklift, material handling, or overhead crane experience is a plus, if applicable to assigned work area.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing and machine shop environment with exposure to machinery, moving parts, coolant, chips, noise, and production materials.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, grip, lift, carry, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, with or without assistance, and follow safe lifting practices.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE, which may include safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety-toe footwear.
