1. About the Role
Tirmizi Design is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Intermediate Architect to join our New York City office immediately.
This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 5–7 years of professional architectural experience who can independently manage projects from early design through construction documentation with minimal supervision.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, exceptional drawing and coordination skills, and extensive experience developing detailed construction documents, particularly involving building envelopes, façade systems, and curtain wall assemblies.
2. Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5–7 years of architectural experience in the United States.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (required).
- Working knowledge of Revit (strongly preferred).
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture.
- Strong understanding of NYC building codes, zoning requirements, and construction practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.
3. Required Experience Project Leadership
The successful candidate must be able to:
- Independently lead projects with minimal supervision.
- Manage projects from inception through schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.
- Coordinate with consultants, engineers, contractors, and clients.
- Resolve design and technical issues efficiently.
- Maintain project schedules and deliverables.
4. Construction Documentation
Candidates must have extensive experience in:
- Producing complete architectural construction document sets.
- Developing technical details and specifications.
- Coordinating consultant drawings and disciplines.
- Quality control and drawing review.
- Building permit and filing document preparation.
5. Building Envelope / Facade Expertise
This position requires significant experience with:
- Facade design and detailing.
- Curtain wall systems.
- Storefront systems.
- Exterior wall assemblies.
- Waterproofing and envelope coordination.
- Construction detailing for complex building exteriors.
- Coordination with façade consultants, manufacturers, and contractors.
Responsibilities
- Lead architectural projects from concept through construction documentation.
- Prepare and coordinate schematic design packages.
- Produce high-quality technical drawings and detailed construction documents.
- Develop façade and curtain wall details.
- Coordinate consultants and interdisciplinary teams.
- Attend client, consultant, and contractor meetings.
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals during construction.
- Support permitting and agency approval processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Revit proficiency.
- Experience with NYC commercial, residential, mixed-use, and institutional projects.
- Experience coordinating complex building envelope systems.
- Licensure or progress toward architectural licensure is a plus.
