Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, air brakes, suspension components, and electrical systems using schematics and technical manuals.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire service, wheel alignments, and equipment inspections to prevent breakdowns and extend machinery lifespan.
- Fabricate custom parts or modifications using welding and hand tools to meet specific operational needs.
- Operate heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers to facilitate repairs or move machinery safely within the worksite.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical systems on farm machinery, industrial equipment, and heavy trucks with precision and attention to detail.
- Utilize automotive diagnostics tools to identify issues quickly and accurately, ensuring timely repairs that minimize downtime.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete repair reports, and ensure all safety protocols are followed during maintenance procedures.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as a diesel mechanic with dealership or industrial experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment operation including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery.
- Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals related to vehicle systems and industrial equipment.
- Skilled in fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; capable of using power tools safely and effectively.
- Hands-on experience with automotive electrical system repair, hydraulics, air brake systems, shocks & struts, suspension alignment, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working in various environmental conditions.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to team members or clients.
