Responsibilities
- Perform detailed diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers using schematics and technical manuals.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, tire service, brake repairs, and fluid checks to prevent breakdowns.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet specific repair requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues involving hydraulics, suspensions, transmissions, air brakes, HVAC systems, and electrical components.
- Use diagnostic tools to identify issues with diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and other industrial equipment.
- Maintain accurate service records detailing repairs performed, parts used, and inspections completed for each piece of equipment.
- Assist in the assembly and disassembly of machinery during repairs or upgrades while adhering to safety standards.
Qualifications
- Proven mechanic experience with a strong background in heavy equipment operation and automotive repair.
- Dealership experience is highly preferred for familiarity with manufacturer-specific systems such as Caterpillar or similar brands.
- Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex machinery.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; ability to use power tools safely.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, air brake systems, suspension alignment, HVAC systems, and diesel engine repair.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in various work environments.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
