QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications include the following:

- High School Diploma or GED
- Knowledge of medical and surgical terminology and all professional equipment on the floor
- Must have active BLS certification
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for operating room stocking with pre-op and post-op or preparation of room.
- Responsible for sterilization of supplies used in the emergency room and clinic and operating room areas of Tioga Medical Center.
- Maintains proper requisitions, storing, preparation and issuing of dressings, packs, treatment, and dressing trays, fluids and all professional equipment.
- Maintains the service of the operating room and maintains supplies.
- Maintains the integrity of sterile processing and sterility assurance in accordance with AAMI guidelines.
- Assists the circulating RN in the operating room.
- Maintain a clean atmosphere in the central supply room and operating room. Assumes call for either central supply or emergency operations as assigned by Surgery Director.
- Active in quality assurance and infection control and must be informed and follow OSHA guidelines.
- Maintain the proper surgery dress code.
- Attend surgery department meetings and inservices provided to improve individual abilities and techniques. be willing to comply with the goals and objectives set by the hospital.
- Attend in-services, and other various meetings.
- May be required to travel to attend work-related meetings and educational opportunities.
- Perform all duties or tasks requested by the Surgery Director and/or CEO.
ADDITIONAL TASKS
- Treats all residents and patients with dignity and respect. Promotes and protects all residents' and patients' rights.
- Establishes a culture of compliance by adhering to all facility policies and procedures. Complies with standards of business conduct, and state/federal regulations and guidelines.
- Understands and demonstrates knowledge of infection control practices, Universal Precautions, OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen Standard, and follows compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality of protected health information, including verbal, written, and electronic communications.
- Reports noncompliance with policies, procedures, regulations, or breaches in confidentiality to appropriate personnel. Reports any retaliation or discrimination to CEO.
- Reports any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to supervisor and/or administrator. Protects residents and patients from abuse and cooperates with all investigations.
- Reports any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals in accordance with facility policy.
- Participates in all life safety and emergency drills and trainings. Fulfills responsibilities as assigned during implementation or activation of the facility's emergency plan.
- Reports work-related injuries and illnesses immediately to supervisor.
- Follows established infection control policies and procedures.
- As a condition of employment, completes all assigned training and skills competency.

- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting and perform other common physical movements as needed for the position.
- Ability to maintain good balance, stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Must have good visual, audible, hand and finger dexterity as required for duties of the position, according to TMC policies, and perform CPR.
- Ability to lift, move, push or pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Must have physical agility to respond in a quick manner and in accordance with established facility practices regarding unexpected patient safety needs.
- Must have the mental capability to follow orders and self-motivation to ensure smooth running of the Central Supply Room.
- Must be willing to comply with the goals and objectives set by the hospital.
- Must be knowledgeable and aware of legal responsibilities and limits of scope of practice.
- Must possess basic computer skills, such as navigating electronic medical record systems.
- Ability to complete forms and records, both electronically and on paper.
- Ability to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
- Ability to assist in evacuation of residents and patients during emergency situations.
- Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases and/or conditions which include AIDS, Coronavirus, Hepatitis B, and Tuberculosis.
- May be subject to falls, burns from equipment, and/or odors throughout the day; encounter reactions from dust, disinfectants, and other air contaminants.
- May be subject to hostile or emotional residents, patients, family members, visitors or personnel.
- Works in well-lit, ventilated area and in the operating room.
- Subject to frequent interruptions.
- Communicates with medical and nursing staff, and other departments.
- Subject to call-back during emergency conditions.
