What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Teacher position at Tiny Tunes Daycare?
About:
Our school is looking for Lead Teachers with a bachelor's or master's degree for 3K/4K to develop and implement a curriculum for students. The ideal candidate for a LEAD TEACHER will have a background in education of at least 2 years as well as experience creating lesson plans and implementing creative classroom activities. YOU MUST HAVE a BA or Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
Job responsibilities which include but not limited to:
- Maintain active supervision of children at all times and conduct accurate head counts during all transitions in accordance with DOH regulations.
- Complete daily health screenings upon arrival and monitor children for signs of illness throughout the day.
- Ensure all children are properly signed in and out by authorized individuals.
- Maintain professional, respectful, and developmentally appropriate interactions with children, families, and staff.
- Follow the approved DOE-aligned curriculum, daily schedule, and classroom lesson plans.
- Implement developmentally appropriate learning activities during centers, gross motor, and small/large group instruction.
- Complete ongoing child observations, assessments, and documentation in accordance with DOE and program requirements, including Teachers Strategies Gold.
- Maintain updated portfolios, bulletin boards, and classroom displays that reflect current learning objectives and children’s work.
- Assist children with meals, toileting, handwashing, diapering, dressing, and other personal care needs while following DOH health and sanitation procedures.
- Maintain proper supervision and safe sleep/naptime procedures, including individual cot and bedding sanitation.
- Communicate children’s daily progress, participation, and concerns with families through approved communication platforms.
- Immediately report and document all incidents, injuries, illnesses, behavioral concerns, and suspected child abuse or neglect in accordance with DOE, DOH, and mandated reporter requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary classroom environment through daily cleaning and disinfecting of toys, furniture, bathrooms, and high-touch surfaces.
- Always store all hazardous materials and cleaning supplies securely and out of children’s reach.
- Ensure classroom materials, attendance records, lesson plans, and required documentation are completed and maintained in compliance with DOE and DOH standards.
- Lead Providers are responsible for ensuring classroom compliance, implementation of lesson plans, completion of portfolios, and adherence to daily operational procedures.
- Physical, verbal, or emotional abuse toward a child is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate termination and reporting to the appropriate agencies.
- Staff must always remain attentive and within sight and sound supervision of assigned children and notify another staff member before leaving the group.
