Education & Experience
- Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, a related field, or equivalent professional experience. OR
- Minimum of one year of experience working in a school setting. OR
- At least five years of experience working with children in either formal or informal settings.
Certifications & Training
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain within the first month of employment.
Professional Skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective classroom management and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs.
Key ResponsibilitiesProfessional Responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with all Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care (DELC) licensing requirements.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to support program development and continuous improvement.
- Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook, Parent Handbook, and Board Policy Manual.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, parent meetings, open houses, school programs, and special events.
- Assist with daily operational duties, including supervision of students during playground time, snack periods, and transitions.
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and respect in all interactions.
Curriculum Planning & Instruction
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with program goals and child development best practices.
- Create meaningful learning experiences that support children's cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth.
- Use a variety of instructional methods, materials, and activities to engage all learners.
- Lead and supervise classroom projects, field trips, guest presentations, and enrichment activities.
- Encourage curiosity, exploration, problem-solving, and creativity through guided learning experiences.
Student Support & Classroom Management
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and positive classroom environment.
- Establish and maintain appropriate behavior expectations and routines.
- Support children's communication and social-emotional development.
- Collaborate with families and outside professionals as needed to support student success.
Assessment & Documentation
- Observe, assess, and document student growth and development.
- Adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and interests.
- Complete progress reports and maintain accurate student records.
Family Engagement & Communication
- Build positive partnerships with families.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, student development, and family communications.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and respond promptly to family questions or concerns.
- Encourage family involvement in classroom and school activities.
Classroom & Facility Care
- Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
- Share responsibility for housekeeping tasks and daily classroom maintenance.
- Help ensure all learning spaces remain safe, attractive, and free of clutter.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to actively supervise and engage with young children throughout the day.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds as needed.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and move frequently throughout the workday.
