Overview
We are seeking a dedicated GSRP Classroom Aid/Assistant Teacher to support early childhood education in a nurturing and engaging classroom environment. Duties
- Assist lead teachers in implementing lesson plans focused on literacy, math, and overall curriculum development tailored to early childhood education standards.
- Support classroom management by fostering positive behavior and creating a safe, inclusive environment for children.
- Provide individualized attention and support for children with special needs or disabilities, including those with autism.
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Help with daily routines such as diapering, toileting, feeding, and nap times in accordance with childcare best practices.
- Collaborate with teachers on curriculum adjustments to meet diverse learning needs and developmental levels.
- Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization to ensure a healthy learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with parents and team members regarding children's progress and behavioral concerns.
- Support classroom behavior management strategies to promote positive interactions among children.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Transportation required
- At least 18 years old
- Prior experience working with young children in daycare, preschool, or private school settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of childhood development theories, including Montessori or other early childhood education approaches.
- Experience with special education, behavior management, and working with children with autism or disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members.
- Ability to assist in lesson planning and curriculum implementation tailored to preschool learners.
- Familiarity with classroom management techniques and literacy/numeracy education strategies.
- Compassionate attitude towards children’s individual needs and diverse backgrounds.
- Certification or training in early childhood education or related fields is a plus but not required. This position provides an enriching opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young learners’ lives while working alongside experienced educators dedicated to early childhood development.
- Ability to work effectively within Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD assessment systems (training provided as needed)
- CDA credential, associate degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development, or related coursework preferred (but not always required—willing to support training plans!)
- Strong communication skills, patience, and enthusiasm for early learning
- Ability to pass background check, fingerprinting, and meet Michigan licensing requirements
- Reliable, flexible, and team-oriented

Pay: $15–$20 per hour, depending on credentials, experience, and qualifications (e.g., higher rate with CDA or ECE degree)
Schedule: Monday through Friday 8 am -3 pm
