Job Summary:
The Residential Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operation of group homes and staff. This includes supervising childcare staff, managing home cleanliness and compliance, and responding to resident needs. The Residential Supervisor ensures homes operate with excellence and consistency in alignment with the mission and values of Timothy Hill.
Duties and Responsibilities:Leadership & Environment:
- Understand and support THCR’s mission, vision, and core values.
- Set a positive tone in the home: safe, orderly, fair, fun, and upbeat.
- Provide visible leadership—residents and staff follow the supervisor’s example.
Scheduling & Coverage:
- Plan, maintain, and monitor childcare staff schedules.
- Ensure full shift coverage; supervisors must fill gaps as needed.
- Obtain approval for all overtime and shift changes.
- Coordinate vacation coverage with the Program Administrator.
Home Maintenance & Cleanliness:
- Perform daily walk-throughs of homes, both interior and exterior.
- Ensure homes are always ready for inspection and assign deep-cleaning tasks.
- Note and address cleanliness and maintenance issues promptly.
Documentation & Communication:
- Review daily logs, med logs, and staff logs.
- Ensure accurate, signed entries; address errors directly with staff.
- Use staff logs for effective communication.
Staff Supervision & Coaching:
- Participate in weekly supervision with the Program Administrator.
- Provide weekly one-on-one supervision to full-time childcare staff.
- Evaluate staff performance and give regular feedback.
- Monitor routines and supervise on-call staff as needed.
- Review incidents and coach staff on better outcomes.
- Keep Program Administrator informed of staff progress and any concerns.
Resident Oversight:
- Ensure residents attend all scheduled appointments, activities, tutoring, and counseling.
- Teach punctuality and preparedness.
- Mediate resident/staff issues and implement appropriate consequences.
- Enforce all THCR rules, safety systems, and behavioral standards.
Safety & Compliance:
- Conduct and report monthly fire drills.
- Ensure food is properly stored and labeled.
- Verify evacuation signs, fire extinguishers, exit signs, and first aid kits are in place and functional.
- Remove contraband and complete incident reports as required.
- Secure all cleaning supplies and chemicals appropriately.
- Ensure regular and accurate use of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and Life Space Interviews (LSIs).
- Inspect homes and vehicles, reporting all issues via email to the Program Administrator.
- Maintain an adequate supply of THCR forms.
Resident Development:
- Promote life skill development and behavioral growth.
- Attend team meetings with all required documentation (logs, team letters, zone rating sheets, etc.).
- Monitor resident chores; staff must verify completion before recreation.
- Teach and model the “Twenty Manners,” expecting staff and residents to uphold these daily.
Physical Demands of the Position:
The Residential Supervisor must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. This includes the ability to move quickly in emergency situations, perform TCI interventions when necessary, and carry up to 30 lbs.
Job Requirements:
- High level of integrity and discretion with confidential information.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and able to follow through on responsibilities.
- Valid and current Driver’s License.
- Flexibility to cover shifts, emergencies, and staff supervision as needed.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma required; College degree preferred.
- Minimum five years of experience in residential childcare or youth services.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- TCI certification (prior to or upon employment).
- TCI Train-the-Trainer certification within six (6) months of employment (preferred).
Required Background Checks (Louisiana):
- State of Louisiana background check
- FBI fingerprinting clearance
- Louisiana Child Abuse and Neglect Registry check
- Drug screening
- Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
- Out-of-state checks if applicable (past 5 years of residency)
