Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced NBIS-Certified Bridge Inspection Team Leader to join our Richmond, Virginia office location. This individual will be responsible for conducting biennial safety inspections as defined by NBIS and VDOT IIM-S&B-27.9. This will include element level inspection, with documentation of National Bridge Elements (NBEs), Bridge Management Elements (MBEs) and Agency Developed Elements (ADEs). The inspection is typically performed with a team of two (2) inspectors, one of which will satisfy the requirements of Team Leader, as defined by NBIS and VDOT IIM-S&B-78.1. An interest in bridge design and drafting is a plus as there is an opportunity to also conduct this work. This position can be part-time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:
- Conduct bridge and structure safety inspections as a member of a bridge safety team
- Author inspection reports
- Review inspection reports conducted by others
- Carry and use ladders to access structures
Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:
- Current NBIS certification as a Bridge Inspector, Team Leader certification is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited program is a plus
- Ideal candidates will have a minimum of two years’ experience
- Strong communication and technical writing skills, both oral and written
- Proficiency in the use of computers
- Must have a valid driver’s license
