What are the responsibilities and job description for the Farmworker/ Laborer position at Timmerman Land & Cattle LLC?
Duties include monitoring the health and well-being of approximately 4,500 cows and 4,500 calves on pasture/range, assisting with the calving process, delivering calves, and caring for orphaned calves. Workers will brand, tag, castrate, and vaccinate cattle; administer treatment to sick or injured animals as directed; and assist with pregnancy checking of cows in the fall. Workers will also perform ranch maintenance and care duties including repairing and maintaining fences, corrals, and barns; cleaning and preparing facilities for calving and winter; and conducting general upkeep of the ranch. Throughout the season, workers will ride through pastures daily to monitor cattle, move animals as directed, gather and sort cows and calves for weaning and shipping, and load calves onto trucks for shipment to feedlots. The seasonal need begins with preparation and herd checks in February, peaks March through June during calving and calf processing, shifts to herd health monitoring, vaccinations, fencing, and pasture rotation in July and August, and concludes September through November with weaning, shipping, pregnancy checking, and fall clean-up. Employment is temporary and limited to the February–November livestock production cycle.
