Job Summary
We are looking for Lifeguards with the ability to work flexible shifts throughout the summer for our outdoor pool. Lifeguards must maintain constant supervision of swimmers and families at all times to ensure safety. Successful applicants may also be considered for swim lesson positions at our indoor pools that provide extra pay and extended hours. Prior experience is a major plus.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains constant supervision of swimmers and families at the facility's outdoor pool, identifies swimmers who need assistance, and support swimmers and families as necessary to ensure a safe environment.
- Warns swimmers of improper or dangerous activities and enforces pool regulations.
- Adheres to policies and procedures in organizational guidelines, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency incidents.
- Administers first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or danger or drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration as necessary.
- Maintains sanitary pool standards, testing chemicals and filling out daily logs.
- Inspects pool facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable.
- May assist with fundamentals of water safety and swimming as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have CPR, AED, First Aid, and Lifeguarding Certificate.
- Must have clean CORI and SORI background check.
- Ability to recognize and remedy hazardous and dangerous situations.
- Ability to swim in shallow and deep water and tread water.
- Ability to work independently and possess energy and enthusiasm.
- Ability to recognize students who may need assistance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of experience as a Lifeguard.
- 1-3 years of experience as a Swim Instructor.
This is a part-time, seasonal role averaging 22-30 hours per week including 1 weekend day per week.
The pool will be open through Labor Day, is open 7 days per week, 9:00am to 7:00pm. Shifts will be split across multiple Lifeguards.
Pay for this position starts at $22.50/hour.
