Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough client assessments using DSM-5 criteria and clinical documentation standards to develop individualized treatment plans.
- Deliver individual, group, and family counseling sessions utilizing behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based practices.
- Facilitate crisis intervention and crisis management strategies to ensure client safety during acute episodes or emergencies.
- Perform intake evaluations, monitor patient progress, and adjust treatment approaches accordingly while maintaining HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) and medical documentation accurately, adhering to medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and clinical documentation standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on case management, discharge planning, and coordination of home & community care services for clients with complex needs.
- Engage in ongoing research and professional development to stay current with addiction medicine advancements, mental health counseling techniques, and behavioral health trends.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Masters level clinician or CADC equivalent
- Minimum one year experience working with substance abuse
- Proven experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions in clinical or community settings.
- Demonstrated expertise in psychotherapy modalities such as behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
- Strong background in crisis management, crisis intervention, patient assessment, and social work practices within hospital or outpatient environments.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EHR management), medical records maintenance, and documentation standards aligned with HIPAA regulations.
- Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds and populations requiring specialized addiction counseling or mental health support.
- Knowledge of diagnostic evaluation tools including DSM-5 criteria and ICD coding systems (ICD-9/10).
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment while demonstrating excellent client communication skills and case management capabilities.
