Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Truck Dispatcher to coordinate and manage transportation operations. The ideal candidate will oversee dispatching activities, optimize routes, and ensure timely delivery of shipments. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with transportation management systems, and a strong understanding of logistics and supply chain processes. The Truck Dispatcher plays a vital role in maintaining efficient fleet operations and supporting overall transportation planning.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily dispatching of trucks and shipments to meet delivery schedules.
- Utilize GIS, GPS, and transportation management systems such as Samsara to plan routes and track vehicle locations.
- Manage shipping & receiving activities, ensuring proper documentation and data entry into systems like McLeod, AS400 and 3PL platforms.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, warehouse staff, and clients via multi-line phone systems while maintaining professional phone etiquette.
- Monitor fleet management operations, including vehicle maintenance schedules and compliance with safety regulations.
- Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for route optimization and cost reduction.
- Assist in transportation planning, supply chain coordination, and logistics support to improve overall efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of freight movements, driver logs, and related documentation.
- Support shipping & receiving processes by coordinating schedules and managing freight documentation.
Skills
- Proficiency with transportation management systems such as McLeod, AS400, SyteLine, and 3PL platforms.
- Strong knowledge of GIS, GPS technology, and transportation planning tools.
- Excellent analysis skills to interpret logistics data for decision-making.
- Effective dispatching skills with experience in freight coordination.
- Familiarity with fleet management practices and shipping & receiving procedures.
- Exceptional communication skills including phone etiquette and clear verbal/written communication.
- Typing proficiency for efficient data entry and record keeping.
- Ability to operate multi-line phone systems efficiently.
