Job Summary: Timber Creek Golf Club seeks a skilled and dedicated Equipment Manager to oversee the comprehensive maintenance and repair of all equipment utilized across the 27-hole golf course, clubhouse grounds, and related club operations. The Equipment Manager will develop and execute a robust preventive maintenance program to ensure optimal performance of turf management equipment, utility vehicles, and specialty tools, maintaining the highest standards of precision and quality. This role requires technical expertise, proficiency in computer-based inventory and ordering systems, and a commitment to advancing with evolving equipment technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program for all club equipment, including diesel, gasoline, and electric units, handheld tools, and specialized turf management machinery, adhering to manufacturer specifications.
· Diagnose and perform repairs on mechanical failures across maintenance and operational equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and consistent functionality.
· Maintain precision cut quality for reel and rotary mowers through regular inspection, sharpening, and adjustment, including grinding reels and bed knives, backlapping, and ensuring proper reel-to-bedknife alignment.
· Utilize computer systems to manage parts inventory, order supplies, and maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance activities.
· Research competitive pricing online and procure high-quality replacement parts and supplies in collaboration with equipment providers.
· Train and mentor assistant technicians and new hires on equipment operation and maintenance, emphasizing cut quality and operational efficiency.
· Conduct daily inspections and adjustments to ensure all equipment meets operational standards before deployment.
· Communicate equipment maintenance needs, issues, or recommendations promptly to the Golf Course Superintendent.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant work environment within the maintenance facility.
· Assist in the upkeep and repair of the maintenance facility as needed.
· Stay current with advancements in equipment technology through ongoing education, supported and encouraged by club management.
· Perform golf course maintenance tasks or work weekends as required by management to support operational needs.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an equipment technician or in a related field, with demonstrated expertise in diesel and gasoline engines, including small tools.
· Proficiency in computer use for inventory management, online ordering, and record-keeping.
· Strong diagnostic skills, with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues independently or in collaboration with equipment providers and service managers.
· Expertise in grinding reels and bed knives, backlapping, and adjusting cutting units to ensure superior cut quality.
· Ability to interpret verbal instructions, service manuals, schematics, and online resources to execute repairs and adjustments.
· Excellent interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and positive approach to working with colleagues and management.
· Capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines to maintain exceptional golf course conditions daily.
· Flexibility to work weekends and perform additional maintenance tasks as needed.
· Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment in accordance with OSHA standards.
