Job Summary
The Kitchen Helper supports the culinary team in the daily operations of the kitchen, including basic food preparation, cleaning, and maintaining kitchen hygiene. Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Support
- Assist chefs in preparing dim sum and other menu items.
- Carry out basic food preparation tasks such as washing, cutting, and portioning ingredients.
- Support daily mise en place for kitchen operations.
- Help with steaming, pan-frying, and deep-frying under the chef’s guidance.
Kitchen Hygiene & Maintenance
- Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen area, tools, and equipment.
- Ensure proper storage, labelling, and handling of ingredients and finished products.
- Dispose of kitchen waste properly and keep work areas clean and organized.
- Adhere strictly to food safety and hygiene standards.
Operational Support
- Assist with kitchen opening and closing duties.
- Follow instructions and complete tasks assigned by the Head Chef or supervisors.
- Work cooperatively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth daily operations.
Job Requirements
- Prior experience in a Chinese or dim sum kitchen is an advantage; however, those without experience but with a willingness to learn are welcome.
- Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.
- Physically fit and able to stand for long hours.
- Able to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Possess a positive attitude and strong teamwork spirit.
