Duties

• Perform advanced tree pruning, trimming, and removals in accordance with ANSI A300 standards and industry best practices
• Expertly and confidently climb and work in trees of all sizes—from small ornamentals to large, complex canopy trees—using rope-and-saddle systems, SRT/DRT techniques, and aerial rescue readinessExecute complex rigging operations, including negative rigging and controlled dismantling of hazardous or structurally compromised trees
• Safely operate and maintain chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, and other arboricultural equipment
• Operate bucket trucks and aerial lifts when appropriate, with a strong understanding of when climbing is the safer or more effective option
• Assess tree structure, identify defects, and make real-time decisions to ensure crew safety and property protection
• Apply advanced arboricultural knowledge to diagnose tree health issues, pests, and diseases, and recommend treatment or mitigation plans
• Maintain detailed job documentation, including work performed, site conditions, and safety considerations
• Collaborate effectively with crew members on residential and commercial projects, contributing to efficient workflow and high-quality outcomes

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of professional tree climbing experience in production arboriculture
• Demonstrated proficiency in rope-and-saddle climbing systems, including SRT and DRT techniques, with the ability to work safely and efficiently in trees of all sizes and complexity
• Strong working knowledge of advanced rigging techniques, including negative rigging and controlled dismantling for safe tree removal
• Experience performing pruning and removals in accordance with ANSI A300 standards and industry safety protocols (ANSI Z133)
• Proven ability to assess tree structure, identify defects, and make sound decisions regarding safe work positioning and removal strategy
• Proficiency in the safe operation and maintenance of arboricultural equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, and aerial lifts
• Experience operating bucket trucks and understanding when aerial access vs. climbing is most appropriate
• Solid understanding of tree biology, health diagnostics, and proper pruning practices
• ISA Certification or equivalent is preferred but not required; willingness to obtain certifications and continue professional development is expected

Preferred Qualifications:

• ISA Certified Arborist or related credentials
• Familiarity with large tree rigging and lift-assisted removals
• Knowledge of tree biology, pest/disease ID, and proper pruning techniques

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
