Duties
- Coordinate and schedule pickups and deliveries using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.
- Utilize GPS and GIS tools to monitor vehicle locations, optimize routes, and improve dispatch efficiency.
- Communicate clearly with drivers, carriers, vendors, and clients via multi-line phone systems while maintaining professional phone etiquette.
- Enter data accurately into systems like AS400 and transportation management platforms to track shipments, freight details, and delivery statuses.
- Manage shipping & receiving schedules, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with safety standards.
- Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for cost savings, route improvements, or service enhancements.
- Support fleet management activities by coordinating vehicle maintenance schedules and tracking driver hours in accordance with regulations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dispatching within logistics or transportation industries; familiarity with freight operations preferred.
- Strong knowledge of transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or SyteLine.
- Proficiency in using GPS, GIS tools, and data entry platforms to enhance dispatch accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally.
- Demonstrated analysis skills to interpret logistics data for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with shipping & receiving processes, fleet management practices, and 3PL (third-party logistics) operations.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
