A Sample Boards Technician is responsible for the fabrication of retail and trade show space display boards featuring building materials such as tile, marble, glass, mosaic, and other building materials.

A Sample Boards Technician is responsible for the fabrication of retail and trade show space display boards featuring building materials such as tile, marble, glass, mosaic, and other building materials.
Duties and responsibilities
- Follow technical drawings detailing design specifications of displays ranging 6”x12” up to 48”x96”
- Format display based
- Tile pattern and spacing
- Required adhesives and adhesive patterns for material fastening
- Grout selection and proper powder/water metering for optimal formulation
- Measurement and cutting/trimming of various materials to fit display
- Graphic design panel and accessory “chip” affixed to display
- Requires tiling techniques focused on quality to prevent tile lippage, grout cracking, uneven spacing, clean product, and proper packaging and handling for shipping
- Using various workshop tools, both powered and manual, to accomplish above tasks
- You'll need to maintain high standards of workmanship, ensuring that tiles are installed correctly, aligned properly, and grouted neatly. Performing quality checks throughout the installation process is important to deliver a satisfactory result.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including sweeping and mopping floors, removing debris and clutter, and properly disposing of packaging materials.
- Occasionally assisting with other warehouse tasks, such as picking and packing orders, conducting inventory counts, and preparing merchandise for shipment.
- All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Measuring tape (down to /- 1/16”), ruler, T L square
- Industrial stapler, drill, screwdriver, nail gun, glue gun (hot glue and epoxy)
- Tiling tools such as trowel, float, sponge, cloth, grout mixing tools, measuring cups, and scales
- General woodshop tools: tabletop saw, miter saw, drill press, wet tile saw (large bridge saw and small table saw), and LVT guillotine
- Material handling tools: heavy-duty suction cups, ratchet and strap sets, industrial a-frame carts
- General warehouse tools
- Basic knowledge of Warehouse organization procedures.
- Able to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently.
- Able to lift and move heavy merchandise items. Large format displays are typically 100-200 lbs and up to 8 feet long. This requires 2-3 people to safely handle each display. This requires coordination, care, and proper technique to ensure people are safe and the product remains undamaged
- Flexible schedule, including ability to work on weekends, as needed.
- Knowledge of tile setting, grout mixing, and construction is a plus.
- Experience with building custom displays or panels is a plus.
- Attention to detail and proficient math skills are required.
- Precise in taking, reading measurements and orders.
- Have basic knowledge of using power tools such as a Dry cut tile saw, drills and nail guns.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Standing, walking, bending, squatting most of the time.
- Repetitive motions including pushing & pulling with hands most of the time.
- Frequently carrying up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
- Seldom sitting or crawling.
