Position Summary: The role will support equipment replacement, refrigerant piping, condensate systems, controls, startup, testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and related project closeout activities while ensuring work is performed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project requirements. This position is contingent upon contract award, final scope, and project requirements. |
Duties and Responsibility: - Remove existing HVAC equipment and install replacement condensing units and air-handling units within the assigned workshare.
- Install, modify, braze, support, insulate, pressure-test, evacuate, and commission refrigerant piping.
- Install condensate piping, P-traps, float switches, and equipment accessories as assigned.
- Assist with equipment rigging, positioning, anchoring, leveling, and final mechanical connections.
- Perform leak testing, evacuation, refrigerant charging, operational testing, and troubleshooting within certification and supervision requirements.
- Support duct, controls, electrical coordination, commissioning, punch-list, and turnover activities.
- Maintain work-area protection and daily housekeeping in accordance with VA and project requirements
Required Qualifications: - Commercial HVAC installation/service experience appropriate to the assigned equipment and work.
- EPA Section 608 Type II or Universal certification for refrigerant work on applicable high-pressure equipment; Universal preferred.
- Applicable current Texas ACR technician registration/certification and ability to work under a licensed Texas ACR contractor.
- OSHA 10 Construction certification.
- Ability to safely use recovery equipment, vacuum pumps, gauges, meters, leak-detection equipment, brazing tools, and standard HVAC trade tools.
Preferred Qualifications: - EPA Section 608 Universal certification.
- Experience replacing commercial AHUs and condensing units in occupied facilities.
- Carrier equipment experience.
- Federal/VA project experience.
Work Environment Requirements: - All construction personnel require OSHA 10 certification.
- Personnel must comply with VA badge/access requirements, infection-control/dust-control procedures, and occupied-facility conduct requirements.
- After-hours/weekend work may be required when coordinated and approved through the prime/COR.
