As a MEP/Mechanical Project Manager, you will join our Building Services team in either our Middletown, CT, Westwood, Woburn, or Westfield, MA offices, where you’ll play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure projects across the Northeast. Our Mechanical Team and Projects

Our mechanical team works on a wide range of projects for higher education, K-12 schools, municipal buildings, courthouses, public safety facilities, healthcare, housing, commercial clients, industrial facilities, and water/wastewater facilities. Project work may include HVAC system replacements, building assessments, energy studies, boiler and chiller plant upgrades, DOAS systems, VRF/VRV systems, air source heat pumps, geothermal systems, hydronic heating and cooling, ventilation improvements, building controls, indoor air quality upgrades, and phased renovations in occupied facilities.


What You’ll Be Doing

As a valuable part of our Mechanical Team, a Project Manager will lead HVAC-focused projects while coordinating closely with electrical, plumbing, fire protection, structural, civil, architectural, and owner teams with responsibilities such as:

  • Managing mechanical and MEP projects from study and planning through design, bidding, construction administration, and closeout.
  • Leading HVAC design for renovations, additions, new construction, infrastructure upgrades, and system replacement projects.
  • Evaluating existing HVAC systems and develop recommendations for repair, replacement, energy efficiency, decarbonization, resiliency, and long-term capital planning.
  • Designing and overseeing systems such as air handling units, rooftop units, DOAS, VAV systems, VRF/VRV heat pump systems, air source heat pumps, hydronic systems, boiler plants, chiller plants, pumps, ERVs, exhaust systems, ventilation systems, and building management controls.
  • Preparing and reviewing calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, cost estimates, and design narratives.
  • Leading facility assessments, feasibility studies, energy analyses, and HVAC system options studies.
  • Coordinating phased construction in occupied schools, campuses, municipal buildings, healthcare environments, and other active facilities.
  • Managing project scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and client communication.
  • Leading internal project teams and coordinate deliverables across multiple disciplines.
  • Providing technical QA/QC and mentor junior mechanical engineers and designers.
  • Supporting public bidding, contractor questions, submittal reviews, RFIs, field observations, punch lists, and commissioning-related activities.
  • Building strong client relationships and support proposals, interviews, and future project planning.


What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline
  • Professional Engineer license required
  • 10 years of mechanical engineering experience with a focus on HVAC design
  • Experience managing mechanical or MEP projects in a consulting engineering, AEC, or building design environment
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, ventilation, hydronic heating and cooling, building controls, energy efficiency, and applicable mechanical codes
  • Experience leading projects from existing conditions assessment and conceptual design through construction documents and construction administration
  • Ability to manage project scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and client communication
  • Experience coordinating with electrical, plumbing, fire protection, structural, civil, architectural, and owner teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to mentor technical staff and review mechanical design work


Preferred Requirements

  • PE licensure in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, New York, or Vermont
  • Experience with K-12, higher education, municipal, courthouse, public safety, healthcare, housing, commercial, industrial, water, or wastewater facility projects
  • Experience with occupied building renovations and phased construction
  • Experience with DOAS, VRF/VRV, air source heat pumps, geothermal, energy recovery, high-efficiency boiler plants, chiller plants, cooling towers, and building management systems
  • Experience with energy studies, decarbonization planning, electrification, HVAC feasibility studies, and capital improvement planning
  • Familiarity with public bidding requirements and municipal or state agency projects
  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, load calculation software, energy modeling tools, or other mechanical design platforms
  • ASHRAE involvement, LEED accreditation, Passive House experience, or commissioning experience
  • Existing client relationships within the Northeast market
  • Prior consulting engineering experience preferred
