Tigg's Canteen Services is currently seeking a Full-Time Permanent Lead Cook to work at Grand Traverse County Jail in Traverse City Michigan.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a kitchen environment, is comfortable taking on leadership responsibilities, and wants to be part of a team that makes a difference every day.

What You'll Do
As a Lead Cook, you will play an important role in the daily operation of the facility kitchen. Responsibilities may include:.
- Working as part of a team in a structured correctional environment
- Preparing, baking, and cooking meals according to company standards
- Reading and following company recipes and established procedures
- Helping ensure meals are prepared accurately and on schedule
- Assisting with kitchen organization and maintaining a clean work area
- Assisting with kitchen clean-up and maintaining proper sanitation
Qualifications
- Leading, directing, and assisting inmates within the kitchen
- A positive, dependable, and professional attitude
- The ability to work effectively in a structured correctional environment
- The ability to read, understand, and follow company recipes
- The ability to assist with food preparation, baking, cooking, and clean-up
- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work weekends and holidays
- Flexibility to work varying days and hours, approximately 10:00 AM-6:00 PM
- Must be able to obtain clearance and approval to work inside the facility
Previous food service or kitchen experience is a plus, but it is not required. We are willing to train the right person!
