Towing Operator

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Towing Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating tow trucks and related equipment to assist stranded or disabled vehicles. This role requires a strong understanding of automotive systems, mechanical knowledge, and excellent customer service skills. The Towing Operator plays a vital role in providing prompt, professional assistance while ensuring safety and efficiency in all operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate tow trucks, including flatbed and other specialized vehicles, to recover and transport vehicles safely.
• Perform automotive diagnostics and basic repairs as needed to prepare vehicles for towing.
• Load and unload vehicles using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or winches.
• Ensure all towing activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
• Assist customers professionally, providing clear communication and support during stressful situations.
• Maintain accurate records of all towing jobs, including vehicle details and service times.
• Conduct routine inspections of towing equipment and perform minor mechanical maintenance when necessary.
• Manage conflicts or disputes with customers calmly and effectively, ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours as needed.

Skills

• Automotive diagnostics and repair knowledge to assess vehicle condition before towing.
• Mechanical expertise, including familiarity with manual transmissions and automotive systems.
• Experience operating flatbed tow trucks, tow trucks, forklifts, and other related equipment.
• Chauffers license required at minimum, valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred.
• Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor issues with towing equipment or vehicles.
• Customer service skills to handle interactions professionally during stressful situations.
• Conflict management abilities to resolve disputes amicably while maintaining safety standards.
• Ability to load & unload vehicles efficiently using appropriate tools and techniques. Pay: $20.00 - $45.00 per hour
