Overview
Tiger Concrete and Screed, based in Lakeland, Florida, specializes in commercial concrete construction, with a focus on tilt-up concrete wall systems, concrete slabs, concrete paving, and large-scale concrete placement utilizing Somero laser screed technology. Our projects include commercial, industrial, retail, and institutional construction throughout the Southeast and Midwest.
The Estimator position will focus specifically on estimating commercial concrete construction projects. This includes reviewing construction plans, specifications, and bid documents; performing quantity takeoffs for concrete work; estimating materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs; and preparing accurate, competitive bids for projects involving concrete slabs, foundations, tilt-up panels, paving, and related concrete scopes. Candidates should have an understanding of commercial concrete construction and be comfortable reading architectural and structural plans.
Duties
- Review and thoroughly understand bid documents including plans and specifications.
- Identify all base scope of work items and required alternates.
- Perform accurate, detailed and complete quantity take-offs.
- Request, organize and compare vendor/subcontractor quotes.
- Prepare correct and timely project cost estimates.
- Complete submittal packages including bid proposals and required forms.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, construction science, quantity surveying, engineering, architecture, or related field from an accredited University OR minimum 3 years' experience as a construction estimator or in a similar position in preconstruction.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build solid relationships with team members, vendors and clients.
- Accurate and precise attention to detail.
- Able to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently.
- Organized and able to manage multiple projects and schedules.
- General understanding of construction industry practices and principles.
- Experience with estimating concrete for structures, projects over $3 million preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; Bluebeam Revu or similar, BIM/Autodesk Revit a plus.
