Position Summary
The Surgery Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the surgical scheduling process while ensuring patients receive exceptional care and communication throughout their surgical experience.
Responsibilities
- Schedule gynecological surgeries and procedures
- Coordinate surgery dates with physicians, patients, and surgical facilities
- Obtain and review surgical consents and required documentation
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for upcoming surgeries
- Obtain prior authorizations when required
- Prepare and organize surgical charts and documentation
- Maintain accurate patient records within the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Communicate professionally with patients regarding surgical instructions and scheduling
- Work closely with physicians, clinical staff, and surgery center personnel to ensure seamless coordination
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Surgery Coordinator or medical scheduling experience required
- Experience in an OB/GYN or surgical specialty practice is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of insurance verification, benefits, and prior authorizations
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and Microsoft Office
