Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Assistant Teacher to join our team! In this vital role, you will support lead teachers in creating engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for young children. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help promote a positive classroom atmosphere where every child feels valued and inspired to learn.
Duties
- Assist lead teachers in implementing curriculum plans aligned with early childhood education standards, including literacy, math, and social-emotional learning.
- Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and helping maintain a safe, organized environment.
- Engage with children through play, educational activities, and individualized attention to foster their social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
- Help monitor and document each child's progress through observations and assessments, including Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals when applicable.
- Collaborate with team members to develop lesson plans that incorporate diverse teaching strategies such as Montessori methods or sensory activities.
- Support children with disabilities or special education needs by adapting activities and providing necessary accommodations.
- Maintain open communication with parents regarding daily activities, progress, and any concerns about their child's development.

Skills
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childhood development best practices.
- Experience working with children in preschool or childcare settings; private school experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with special education concepts, including IEP development and implementation.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is desirable to support communication with diverse learners.
- Strong classroom management skills combined with effective behavior management techniques.
- Ability to plan engaging lessons that incorporate literacy education, math skills, and social-emotional learning.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and families.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
- Knowledge of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) standards related to early childhood education.
- Ability to work well with children of various ages, including toddlers and preschoolers, providing attentive childcare in a nurturing environment.
