Network Engineer
Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid, onsite as needed)
Duration: 4 to 6 month contract with potential extension
A leading organization is seeking a Network Engineer to support a large scale switch and wireless refresh initiative across North America. This is a hands on role focused on Cisco switching and Aruba wireless technologies, offering the opportunity to work on high impact infrastructure projects in a fast paced environment.
The Network Engineer will play a key role in staging, configuring, and deploying network equipment, while partnering closely with project leadership and onsite technical teams to ensure successful execution of network upgrades.
What You Will Do
- Support a North America wide switch and access point refresh initiative
- Stage, configure, and test network switches at the Houston Global Support Center
- Draft and review network designs in alignment with established standards
- Collaborate with Project Managers and onsite rack and stack teams to execute deployments
- Lead technical efforts during implementation, including weekend cutovers when required
- Ensure network performance, security, and reliability standards are met
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues during staging and deployment phases
What You Bring
- Strong experience with Cisco switching technologies
- Hands on experience with Aruba wireless solutions
- Proven ability to stage and configure network hardware
- Experience supporting network refresh or infrastructure upgrade projects
- Ability to read, draft, and validate network designs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Work Environment
This role requires 40 to 50 hours per week, with onsite presence in Houston typically 2 to 3 days per week for staging and configuration activities. Weekend work will be required at times, primarily on Saturday and Sunday, to support deployment windows.
This is a project based opportunity expected to run 4 to 6 months, with the potential for extension based on ongoing project needs. Ideal candidates are detail oriented, hands on, and thrive in execution driven environments where quality and speed matter.
