Senior Landscape Architect / Project Lead
Tier II Landscape Design is seeking an experienced Landscape Architect to lead design and project execution for high-profile urban rooftop gardens and outdoor amenity spaces across NYC. As a design–build firm, Tier II integrates concept design, technical detailing, and construction expertise to deliver iconic landscapes for multi-family, commercial, and institutional projects.
What You’ll Do
Take full ownership of rooftop and terrace projects from concept through construction.
Lead design presentations, coordinate with architects/engineers, and oversee construction documentation.
Mentor junior designers, guiding them in design development, detailing, and project delivery.
Create planting plans, hardscape layouts, and construction details tailored to rooftop conditions (slab loads, wind, drainage, irrigation).
Conduct site visits, troubleshoot field issues, and ensure design intent is carried through to construction.
Collaborate with Tier II’s estimating and build teams to align budgets, materials, and constructability.
Qualifications
Degree in Landscape Architecture (BLA/MLA).
7 years of professional experience, with proven expertise in NYC rooftop gardens, terraces, and amenity decks.
Strong portfolio showing both creative design vision and built rooftop projects.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D rendering tools (SketchUp, Lumion, Rhino, or similar).
In-depth knowledge of rooftop construction methods, waterproofing coordination, planting systems, and NYC permitting/code requirements.
Excellent leadership and communication skills with experience mentoring junior designers.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with confidence.
