Laborer
Position Summary
We are seeking dedicated and hardworking Laborers to join our team in a dynamic construction environment. As a Laborer, you will play an essential role in supporting underground utility construction operations by assisting skilled tradesmen, equipment operators, and supervisors with a variety of manual labor tasks. Ideal candidates will be dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or with minimal supervision while consistently meeting project expectations. A strong work ethic, commitment to safety, and willingness to learn are essential for success in this role.
Duties
Perform general labor tasks in support of underground utility construction projects involving water, sanitary sewer, force main, and storm drainage systems.
Assist pipelayers, equipment operators, and other crew members with excavation, pipe installation, backfilling, grading, and site cleanup.
Load, unload, move, and organize construction materials, tools, and equipment on the job site.
Dig trenches and perform hand excavation using shovels, picks, tampers, and other hand tools as needed.
Help guide equipment operators during excavation and material placement while maintaining safe working distances.
Clean and prepare job sites before, during, and after construction activities.
Safely handle and transport materials, including pipe, fittings, and construction supplies.
Maintain tools and equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.
Assist with traffic control and work zone setup as required.
Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific safety requirements.
Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or workplace hazards to the Foreman immediately.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful completion of construction projects.
Qualifications
Previous construction or underground utility experience is preferred but not required.
Basic knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and safe work practices is preferred.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
Strong work ethic with the ability to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently.
Dependable attendance, punctuality, and positive attitude.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team while remaining self-motivated.
