Opportunity Overview
As a full-time Nurse Practitioner in Neurology, you will play a vital role in evaluating, diagnosing, and managing patients with neurological conditions such as headaches, seizure disorders, neuropathies, movement disorders, cognitive decline, stroke-related concerns, and sleep-related issues. You will collaborate closely with neurologists, sleep specialists, technologists, and administrative staff to deliver exceptional, comprehensive care.
Core Duties
Patient Assessment & Evaluation
- Perform thorough neurological assessments, including history-taking, physical and neurological examinations.
- Evaluate symptoms related to migraines, neuropathy, seizures, movement disorders, memory loss, and other neurological concerns.
- Review and interpret diagnostic studies such as EEG, EMG/NCS, neuroimaging reports, and sleep studies when relevant.
- Collaborate with physicians to establish accurate diagnoses and develop effective treatment plans.
Treatment Planning & Management
- Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s neurological condition.
- Prescribe, manage, and adjust medications and therapies as clinically appropriate.
- Educate patients on disease processes, lifestyle modifications, and management strategies to improve outcomes.
- Provide guidance on sleep hygiene and sleep-related management for patients with overlapping conditions.
Follow-Up & Ongoing Care
- Conduct follow‑up visits to monitor progress and modify treatment plans based on patient response.
- Track patient outcomes and coordinate referrals to subspecialists (e.g., epilepsy, movement disorders, sleep medicine) when needed.
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
Patient Advocacy & Support
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care to support patients and their families throughout their treatment journey.
- Address patient questions, provide education, and serve as a consistent point of support during care transitions.
Candidate Profile
- Valid and active Nurse Practitioner license in Virginia (or eligibility for licensure).
- Experience in neurology or sleep medicine is preferred but not required—training available.
- Strong skills in clinical assessment, diagnostics, and critical thinking.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
