Description

Tidewater Fleet Supply / TNT Parts is looking for a knowledgeable, customer-focused Parts Counter Sales Representative to join our team.

Our Parts Counter team is often the first point of contact for our customers. Whether they're calling in, walking through the door, or trying to track down a hard-to-find part, we're looking for someone who can listen to what the customer needs, identify the right solution, and get them back to work as quickly as possible.

The ideal candidate has experience with heavy-duty truck, automotive, fleet, or industrial parts and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are exactly the same.

What You'll Do

• Assist customers at the counter, over the phone, and through electronic inquiries with their parts needs.
• Identify and locate the correct parts based on customer descriptions, vehicle or equipment information, part numbers, and application.
• Provide accurate pricing, availability, quotes, and product information.
• Process customer orders, invoices, returns, warranties, and other transactions accurately.
• Help customers identify alternative products when their first choice isn't available.
• Locate and source non-stocked or hard-to-find parts when necessary.
• Process buyouts and coordinate with Purchasing and other locations to meet customer needs.
• Recommend related products and additional items that can save the customer time and help complete the repair.
• Look for opportunities to increase sales through cross-selling, up-selling, and promotional products without sacrificing customer service.
• Follow up on open quotes, backorders, special orders, and customer requests.
• Communicate with customers regarding order status, availability, delivery expectations, and changes.
• Work closely with Outside Sales, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Delivery teams to provide a smooth customer experience.
• Build strong relationships with customers and learn their businesses, equipment, and purchasing needs.
• Help resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally.
• Maintain accurate customer and account information in company systems.
• Keep the counter, showroom, and parts areas clean, organized, and customer-ready.
• Assist with stocking, inventory, and other branch responsibilities as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

We're looking for someone who enjoys helping customers and understands that good counter sales is about more than looking up a part number. A great Parts Counter Representative asks the right questions, understands the customer's sense of urgency, and takes ownership of finding a solution.

Successful Candidates Will Have

• Heavy-duty truck, automotive aftermarket, fleet, equipment, or related parts experience preferred.
• Strong parts identification and lookup skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• A sales-minded approach with the ability to recognize additional customer needs.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to order accuracy.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to find solutions when a part isn't readily available.
• The ability to work effectively in a busy environment while handling multiple customers and priorities.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn inventory, catalog, CRM, and business systems.
• The ability to work well with other departments and locations.
• A dependable, positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed.
• Manufacturer and product training is a plus.
• A current and valid driver's license with a driving record that meets company insurance requirements.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

• Frequent interaction with customers in a counter and parts environment.
• Periods of sitting, standing, walking, and computer use throughout the workday.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
• May occasionally assist in warehouse or inventory-related activities.
• Some travel may be required for training or business needs.
