About Us
Smith Trucking Company is a trucking and heavy-construction company based in St. Augustine, FL. Our shop keeps a large fleet of trucks and heavy equipment running, and we're looking for a dependable, hands-on team member to keep our mechanics supplied and our equipment shop-ready.
The Role
This position has two parts. You'll pick up and deliver parts and supplies so our mechanics have what they need without leaving the shop. You'll also pressure wash our trucks and heavy equipment before service, removing mud, grease, and debris so mechanics can see, reach, and work on components quickly and safely.
What You'll Do
- Pick up and deliver parts, tools, and supplies between vendors, the shop, and job sites
- Keep parts orders, receipts, and paperwork accurate and turned in on time
- Pressure wash dump trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment ahead of scheduled maintenance and repairs
- Thoroughly clean undercarriages, engines, tracks, and attachments so mechanics can inspect and service equipment efficiently
- Coordinate with the shop on which units need washing first to keep repairs moving
- Report any damage, leaks, or wear you notice while washing
- Keep the wash bay, shop areas, and company vehicles clean and organized
- Assist shop and yard staff with other tasks as assigned
What We're Looking For
- Valid Florida driver's license and a clean driving record (required)
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Comfortable working outdoors in Florida heat and weather
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand, bend, and climb for long periods
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work without close supervision
- Pressure washing or fleet/equipment experience is a plus but not required. We'll train the right person.
- Familiarity with truck or heavy equipment parts is a bonus
