About the Role:
We are seeking an additonal North Carolina-licensed attorney for flexible, in-person overflow court appearance work handling minor traffic-related matters. This 1099 independent contractor role is ideal for attorneys seeking supplemental income with minimal administrative burden. You will cover our Southern Foothills territory, which includes Rutherford and Polk counties.
Requirements:
To be considered for this contract role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Active North Carolina law license in good standing.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within Rutherford and Polk counties.
- Professional courtroom presence and strong negotiation skills.
- Commitment to responsiveness and timely post-court reporting.
- Prior experience handling traffic, misdemeanor, or district court matters is highly preferred.
Responsibilities:
- As a contract attorney providing court coverage, your primary duties include:
- Attending in-person court appearances as needed (maximum of 4 appearances per month however if you can resolve cases without an appearance it will likely be less).
- Handling a consolidated docket of 5 to 10 minor traffic tickets during a single court session to maximize your time.
- Reviewing case details and preliminary summaries before each appearance.
- Exercising full independent professional judgment in negotiating and resolving matters.
- Reporting case outcomes through a simple online portal after court concludes.
Note: We handle all administrative tasks. You will have no client intake, sales responsibilities, billing, or scheduling duties.
Rewards and Compensation:
- Flat Retainer: $1,250.00 per month, paid monthly, regardless of volume fluctuations.
- Flexibility: We work around your existing practice schedule.
- Supplemental Income: A reliable side income stream without the overhead of managing clients.
