Position Overview
Tiberius is seeking a diligent, self-motivated Staff Accountant to help build and scale our accounting function. This role will go beyond transactional bookkeeping and play a meaningful part in applying GAAP principles, strengthening internal controls and supporting strategic growth initiatives. This is an opportunity to gain broad exposure across accounting and finance in a startup environment while working closely with the Director of Finance - FP&A & Controller. The ideal candidate is someone who wants to grow into increasing responsibility as the company scales.

What You’ll Do
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate, timely recording of financial transactions
- Assist in driving monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and adjustments
- Ensure GAAP compliance
- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies
- Assist with the preparation of internal financial statements
- Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation
- Assist in researching and applying GAAP guidance as needed
- Support development of accounting policies and internal controls
- Assist with revenue recognition, expense classification and capitalization analyses
- Support audit preparation and investor due diligence
- Contribute to improving systems and accounting processes as the company scales
- Oversee accounts payable workflow and vendor management
- Support cash flow tracking and reporting
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with FP&A
- Support compliance and regulatory filings
- Take on cross-functional finance and operational projects as needed
- 3 or more years of accounting experience (public accounting or industry)
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles
- Experience with accounting and AP software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Rillet, Ramp, Expensify etc.)
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- High level of integrity and discretion
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
- CPA or CPA candidate (not required)
- Public accounting background (Big 4 or regional firm a plus)
- Experience in defense, aerospace, manufacturing, software or hardware startups
- Experience supporting audits or transaction diligence
- High agency and initiative, with the ability to identify problems and propose solutions
- Strong technical foundation and desire to deepen GAAP expertise
- Diligence, attention to detail and an ownership mindset focused on clean books and continuous improvement
- Ability to build structure and process in an evolving environment
- Willingness to contribute beyond a narrow job description when the business requires it
