Position Description:

We are seeking a Junior Linux Systems Administrator to support a team of analysts and developers focused on data science and modeling in support of strategic IT decision-making. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, problem solving, and maintaining a stable and secure computing environment.

You’ll be responsible for supporting day-to-day operations across multiple environments, ensuring systems are secure, compliant, and optimized for performance. You’ll also provide support for virtualization, cloud environments, and troubleshooting efforts, while working closely with technical end users.

Key Responsibilities:

•  Administer Linux-based systems across development, test, and production environments.

•  Manage user accounts, system health, and security posture across three isolated environments.

•  Apply system patches, manage compliance updates, and maintain system accreditation documentation.

•  Monitor performance of systems and applications using tools like Nagios, Splunk, or Elastic.

•  Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtual machines, operating systems, and custom software.

•  Support both Linux and some Windows-based virtual machines.

•  Perform basic administration tasks within AWS environments.

•  Collaborate with technical teams to support evolving infrastructure needs.

•  Maintain system documentation, including configurations, diagrams, and maintenance records.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with configuration management tools:
  • Ansible (Linux) or DSC (Windows)
• Familiarity with Git or other version control tools.
• Scripting experience in Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
• Experience with Elasticsearch or the broader Elastic Stack.
• Experience documenting technical systems and processes.
• Ability to support infrastructure across development, testing, and production environments.
• Active IAT Level II certification preferred.

Requirements:

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must hold an active clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph
• HS Diploma or GED equivalent 
• 3 years of professional experience

• This position involves sedentary work with physical requirements expected for at least 50% of the time. Essential functions include prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and talking.
