Electrical Controls Engineer Position Summary:
Working in conjunction with the Manufacturing Automation Engineering team, the Electrical Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and documenting control systems for various types of automation and robotic equipment.
Electrical Controls Engineer Job Responsibilities:
- This individual will provide support to maintenance with troubleshooting skills to solve production equipment and process issues.
- Will be involved with electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic design, safety circuits, peripheral device programming, PLC/HMI programming, machine power-up, debug, and validation/buyoff.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Education: Two-year technical degree required. Four-year technical degree preferred. Education in controls and robotics through industry training courses.
- Technical Experience:
- Minimum of five years of experience developing automation controls systems.
- Minimum of two years of experience developing robotic applications.
- Experience with PLCs, HMIs, Motion Control, Pneumatics, and Hydraulics.
- Experience working with AutoCAD Electrical (or similar software) to design electrical layouts.
- Engineering expertise in sizing Fanuc (and other brand) robots for payload and reach, performing reach and timing studies, programming and troubleshooting robots, develop integrated vision systems to be used with robotic processes, create simulations of robot cells, configure master/slave robots using industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP, CIP, Modbus, Profibus, DirectNet, EtherCAT, DeviceNET, DF-1, etc. and have knowledge and experience with RIA 15.06 robotic safety standards
- Experience with various PLC brands including Allen-Bradley, Do-More, Click, Productivity Series, Siemens, etc.
- Must be knowledgeable in NEC, OSHA, NFPA, and other federal, state, and local regulations, requirements, and practices.
- Computer Skills: Highly proficient with MS Office products. Experience with AutoCAD and Solidworks preferred.
