What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Data Scientist position at TIAA?
The Senior Data Scientist performs complex data research and analysis to support business operations. Working under limited supervision, this job develops data mining and data analysis methodologies to create algorithms and predictive models, while also performing custom statistical reporting and analysis based on organization need. This job reviews the work of lower level Data Scientists and partners with the team to implement new models and methodologies as needed. Key Responsibilities and Duties Develops and implements data mining protocols, architectures, and models as well as data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets. Ensures accuracy of statistical reporting, interpretation of data analyses to generate insights, and creation of data visualizations, used to better understand client relationships and improve client services and product offerings. Communicates insights from analyses to management in order to enable data driven decision making to improve business performance and operational outcomes based on machine learning and statistical analysis results. Researches existing and emerging data science principles, theories and techniques to best inform business decisions. Reviews the data modeling, statistical reporting, and data analysis completed by lower level Data Scientists, providing coaching and feedback as needed. Educational Requirements Bachelor's Degree Required Work Experience 3 Years Required; 5 Years PreferredPhysical Requirements Physical Requirements: Sedentary Work Career Level 7IC Required Qualifications 3 years of experience with data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python), and/or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R) Preferred Qualifications 5 years of experience with data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python), and/or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R) Technical expertise with quantitative analysis, experimentation, A/B testing, regression, data mining, and the presentation of data to develop strategies Ability to manage end-to-end experimental design implementation: identify parameters, determine success metrics, perform data validation, monitor progress and derive insights Experience working with large and complex data sets to solve a wide array of challenging problems using different analytical and statistical approaches. Previous experience working with media and marketing data sets preferred. Self-starter and positive performer who can flex when priorities change and contribute to the team’s overall success Strategic thinking, excellent writing and professional editing skills Base Pay Range: $86,300/yr. - $143,800/yr. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
