A pastry chef is responsible for crafting delicious desserts , designing seasonal menus, and developing new recipes for the pastry section of the kitchen. To be successful in this role, you must be well-versed in the culinary arts, be creative with your ideas, and adhere to strict standards of quality and presentation.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Operating and managing the pastry section of the kitchen and liaising with the executive and sous chefs to ensure a successful working environment.
- Preparing ingredients and handling baking and other kitchen equipment.
- Create pastries, baked goods, and other desserts by following a recipe.
- Developing new recipes for seasonal menus.
- Decorating desserts to ensure beautiful and tasteful presentation.
- Monitoring the stock of baking ingredients.
- Ordering new supplies, ingredients, and equipment for the pastry section when needed and within budget.
Requirements:
- 2 or more years’ experience working within the food industry as a Pastry Chef, Baker, or relevant role
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Manual dexterity
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, nights, and holidays
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to remain on your feet and mobile for the duration of your shift
- Ability to lift/carry objects up to 25lbs
- Reliable transportation
