Part-time Garden/Nursery and Plant Care Associate
12-20 hours—This is a seasonal position with potential to retain long term employment. Prime employment is April-June. This position is to help with our busy weekends and potentially some fill in shifts during the week.
Duties include completing checkout on Point of Sale Software, watering outdoor plant inventory, assisting customers with purchase of heavy pottery and concrete statuary, and light gardening.
We are a family-operated garden and gift store. We sell indoor tropical plants and gifts year round, and have a busy spring and summer season selling outdoor plants and pots. We also have a garden behind the shop that is primarily for fun and demonstration. If you have some plant experience and are seeking to transition to this industry, this position is a good starting point.
Must Have:
- Ability to regularly lift 20-50 pounds and knowledge of safe lifting practices. We have heavy outdoor pots and concrete statuary that you must be able to safely move and lift.
- Computer literacy and ability to run cashier
- Experience working with plants in a professional setting such as landscaping, horticulture, or agriculture is preferred.
- Retail or other customer service experience preferred. Ability to engage customers in friendly, hospitable manner, good at reading customer signals.
