Responsibilities as a Network Engineer
They are seeking an innovative, curious-minded, driven self-starter to join the infrastructure team in Chicago.
- Provide technical expertise to support a high frequency trading floor in a high-paced market-making environment.
- Identify, design and implement network optimizations.
- Automate and eliminate manual elements of the network infrastructure.
- Assist with planned upgrades, maintenance and configurations (migrations, expansions, hardware, and software upgrades).
- Ensure all aspects of the WAN network function correctly across global data centers and colocations.
- Contribute to capacity planning, connectivity improvements and traffic flow optimization.
Required competencies
- Highly passionate about networking monitoring, performance and capacity planning.
- Experience with LAN and WAN technologies.
- Comfortable working in a multi-vendor environment (Cisco, Arista, Palo Alto).
- In depth experience with network transport and routing protocols (TCP/UDP, OSPF, BGP, Multicast).
- Experience with firewalls and network security.
- Confident with a variety of network monitoring and alerting tools.
- Strong communication skills, ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical colleagues, via presentation or documentation.
- Preferably proficient in Python scripting for automation but not required.
