General Responsibilities:
The Patient Service Representative (PSR) – Registration and Intake supports patient access operations by ensuring accurate, timely, and patient-focused registration and intake services. Under the supervision of the Manager of Registration and Intake, the PSR serves as a primary point of contact for patients and internal partners, supporting workflows that promote efficient access to care and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Position Description duties and responsibilities:
- Handle incoming and outgoing calls
- Complete eligibility verification for scheduled and new patients.
- Perform new patient registration and update existing patient demographics in the EMR.
- Confirm appointments and document patient responses.
- Manage work queues related to registration, intake, waitlists, and bump lists due to planned provider PTO.
- Generate and document Good Faith Estimates in compliance with the No Surprises Act.
- Process PCP changes and insurance updates accurately and timely.
- Identify and escalate eligibility discrepancies, incomplete registrations, and intake errors as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate documentation within the EMR following organizational standards.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and confidentiality requirements at all times.
Customer Service Duties:
- Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and respect in all patient interactions.
- Respond to patient and staff inquiries in a timely and courteous manner.
- Maintain collaborative working relationships with clinical teams and internal departments.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in patient registration, intake, or healthcare customer service preferred.
Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Working Conditions and Schedule
- Remote or hybrid work environment.
- Occasional travel to office locations may be required.
- Requires extended periods of computer use.
- Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, day shift
