OB Clinical Site Lead — Woonsocket

Special Assignment • Protected Leadership Time • 0.15 FTE

About This Role

Thundermist is establishing an OB Clinical Site Lead at Woonsocket to provide dedicated, protected clinical leadership for obstetric, postpartum, gynecologic, and reproductive health services. This is not a new hire — it’s a special assignment layered onto your existing clinical position, with a recommended starting allocation of 0.15 FTE of protected leadership time. You’ll serve as the senior obstetric clinical voice at the site, working in close partnership with the Site Medical Director, site operational and nursing leaders, and Landmark Medical Center to ensure safe, evidence-based, gender-inclusive, and coordinated care.

What You’ll Do

Clinical Leadership & Consultation

  • Serve as the primary site-based clinical resource for obstetric and reproductive health questions, including escalation of complex cases
  • Promote consistent, evidence-based, gender-inclusive care across prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, miscarriage, gynecologic, contraceptive, and reproductive health services
  • Promote clinically excellent and culturally responsive care for transgender and nonbinary patients who need obstetric or reproductive health services
  • Support safe transitions between Thundermist, delivering hospitals, MFM, Women & Infants Hospital, newborn services, and referral partners

Provider Support & Education

  • Support orientation and onboarding of clinicians providing obstetric and reproductive health care at the site
  • Provide timely clinical consultation, case review, mentoring, and feedback to site clinicians; escalate recurrent concerns through established quality and peer-review processes
  • Coordinate site-based education for clinicians, nurses, MAs, and care team members, including education on gender-inclusive language and respectful clinical practice

Quality, Safety & Operations

  • Lead or co-lead regular site OB clinical and operational meetings, including high-risk patient review, care coordination concerns, and follow-up actions
  • Review site-level quality, safety, access, patient-experience, and utilization data; partner with Quality and site leaders on improvement plans
  • Identify and address gaps in workflows, scheduling, coverage, equipment, documentation, and referrals affecting obstetric and reproductive health care
  • Contribute clinical expertise to policies, standing orders, workflows, and EHR tools

Hospital & Community Partnership

  • Serve as principal site liaison with Landmark Medical Center and, when appropriate, Women & Infants Hospital and MFM partners
  • Work with hospital partners to improve handoffs, discharge follow-up, referral pathways, and call/coverage processes
  • Collaborate with community partners supporting pregnant and parenting patients including lactation, doula, WIC, behavioral health, gender-affirming care, and social services

Initial Priorities — Woonsocket

  • Maintain effective Woonsocket site OB clinical and operational meetings with high-risk case review, follow-up, and escalation
  • Serve as principal site liaison with Landmark Medical Center and, when appropriate, Women & Infants Hospital and MFM partners
  • Partner with the Site Medical Director, operational leader, nursing leadership, and Landmark Medical Center on local workflows, communication, and continuity
  • Support continuity of site OB leadership as existing leaders assume changing residency or fellowship responsibilities; maintain clear separation between clinical-site leadership and educational-program authority
  • Support onboarding, mentoring, consultation, and competency development, including coordination with residency and fellowship faculty and development of gender-inclusive obstetric care capabilities
  • Identify a small initial set of site OB quality, safety, access, and patient-experience measures and report progress through the leadership structure

Schedule and Performance Review

The role holder will maintain a clinical practice consistent with the underlying position. Protected time will be scheduled and used for defined leadership duties. The Site Medical Director and Chief Medical Officer will review the role after approximately six months and at least annually thereafter, considering workload, deliverables, quality and access outcomes, hospital responsibilities, and whether the protected-time allocation remains appropriate.

Who Should Apply

This role is open to current Thundermist clinicians who provide obstetric care at the Woonsocket site. You don’t need to hold formal authority to be the right fit — you need clinical judgment, communication skills, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the ability to lead improvement work through influence and expertise.

  • Current Rhode Island license in a discipline authorized to provide obstetric care (MD/DO or CNM/APRN)
  • Current board certification or eligibility, per Thundermist credentialing standards
  • Demonstrated recent clinical experience in obstetric care, including prenatal, postpartum, and hospital-based maternity care
  • Active or eligible for obstetric privileges at Landmark Medical Center
  • Demonstrated commitment to respectful, equitable, and gender-inclusive care for diverse patient populations, including transgender and nonbinary patients
  • Good standing with all licensing, credentialing, privileging, and professional requirements

Preferred:

  • At least two years of independent practice following training
  • Experience with quality improvement, peer review, onboarding, mentoring, or clinical education
  • Experience providing or developing obstetric and reproductive health care for transgender and nonbinary patients
