Job Description / Basic Purpose
Perform professional alternative instruction at the secondary and occasionally the primary level for educationally and motivationally challenged youth.
The successful candidate will have the ability to help students in all core academic areas but experience in Math preferred. Thunderbird Challenge Program partners with EPIC Charter School and will be using the Edmentum/Plato curriculum for the current school year
Typical Functions
- Under supervision of the Lead Educator, perform professional alternative instruction at the secondary and occasionally the primary level for educationally and motivationally challenged youth and other curriculum as required for student development
- Maintain records of cadet progress and report to Lead Instructor weekly
- Administer specialized testing
- Review and evaluate new materials for classroom use and apply techniques to encourage academic improvement
- Maintain control of the learning environment by implementing academy policies and classroom conduct rules and procedures in a fair and equitable manner for the cadets
- May be required to direct and supervise educational field trips, NTC classes, student social and/or recreational activities.
- Attend educational, institutional and department meetings as required
- Inventory educational materials, supplies and equipment in assigned classroom
- Perform related work as required by the supervisor

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies: Ability to handle confidential information; exercise judgment in interpreting and applying rules and policy; ability to work on the internet with computer based instructional skills required
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift/carry a minimum of 10 pounds
- Sitting at a computer for long periods of time
- Standing and walking while teaching for long periods of time
Special Requirements
- Contingent on a favorable background check

- T1/CNACI security clearance (Eligibility for national security positions shall be granted only to persons who are U.S. citizens)
- Non-Exempt FLSA status
- Maintain a valid driver’s license
