What are the responsibilities and job description for the Traveling Crew Member position at Thunder Road?
Thunder Road is seeking motivated individuals to join our Traveling Road Maintenance Crew. As part of this team, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving roadways, primarily throughout Wisconsin, with occasional travel to other states as needed. Crew members typically work Monday through Friday, with some Saturday work required, and spend the workweek away from our main shop. Thunder Road covers hotel accommodations and provides a daily per diem for meals and expenses while traveling. This is an excellent opportunity for those who enjoy hands-on work, teamwork, and traveling for projects. Structured pay increases are available based on skill development and willingness to learn.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of road maintenance tasks, including cleaning, routing, heat lancing, crack filling, and other asphalt maintenance duties
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods
- Overnight travel required, primarily within Wisconsin, with occasional out-of-state assignments
- Operate and maintain equipment and tools safely and efficiently
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects on schedule
- Drive company vehicles as needed for project assignments
Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License and personal transportation to the shop required
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
- Self-motivated and able to work long hours outdoors
- Some construction experience preferred, but not requiredon-the-job training provided
- CDL and/or prior experience in road maintenance or construction is a plus and may result in higher starting pay
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
Compensation
Starting pay is based on experience level, with structured pay increases based on skills and performance. Overtime opportunities available (50 hours per week, depending on weather). Additional pay for candidates with a valid CDL and/or relevant experience.
