Position Purpose
The barista position at Thump Coffee exists to warmly welcome all who come through our doors, contribute the bar functions of making drinks and processing orders, and to commit to change lives through the power of a cup of coffee.
Position Summary
Working as a barista at Thump Coffee, you get to actively live out our mission to transform lives through the power of our craft. You contribute to a fun and expedient environment, and are excellent at knowing when to tidy and when to drop everything to greet a guest. You express your passion for coffee and people through living out our archetypes of citizen, warrior, and entertainer - both with our guests and with your team.
Our Thump Baristas are committed to the following job functions:
- Prep and make high-quality drinks
- Process payments at the register
- Contribute to a positive environment through interacting with your team and guests
- Complete opening, mid, and closing shift duties
- Provide excellent customer service to all Thump Fans
- Maintain a positive and efficient work environment
- Inform the café manager when products are running low
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness in the café
- Practice direct and efficient communication
- Work food shifts for the café at York on an as-needed basis
Our dream Thump Barista has the following knowledge and qualifications:
- A belief that ordinary things can be used for extraordinary good
- A strong work ethic and an eye for cleanliness and detail
- 1-2 years of experience in customer service
- Concise communication skills
- Excited about learning the ins and outs of food preparation and being a barista
- A desire to be a lifelong learner
- The ability to comfortably receive and give all kinds of feedback
- They are active members and contributors to the Bend community
Benefits and Pay:
After one year of working with Thump, team members are eligible to participate in a SIMPLE IRA with up to 3% employer-matching contributions.
Regarding pay, all baristas at Thump start at a training wage of $15.05 per hour plus tips. Tips average to be $12 extra per hour plus or minus two dollars depending on the season. Thump team members receive a fifty-cent raise for each of the three portions of the internal barista certification with fully-certified baristas making $16.55 per hour plus tips.
