Position Summary:
Thumb Area Transit is seeking a dependable and organized Dispatcher to coordinate daily bus operations. The Dispatcher serves as the central communication point between drivers, passengers, and management—ensuring efficient scheduling, excellent customer service, and on-time performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule and dispatch drivers to ensure timely service.
- Communicate with drivers via radio or phone to manage routes, changes, and updates.
- Assist passengers with ride requests, questions, and scheduling.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service to all passengers and staff.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Strong communication and multitasking skills.
- Computer proficiency.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
- Must be dependable and able to work assigned shifts (which may include some early mornings or evenings).
Dispatchers can expect to make $36K-55K per year. Benefit package available for full-time employment including: health, optical, dental, and life insurance. $500 Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), up to 6% retirement match, paid time off, and eligibility for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
Applicants must possess a valid Michigan Drivers License and must obtain at a minimum a Michigan Chauffer License within 2 weeks after date of hire.
Applicants must meet the standards of a physical examination and drug testing to comply with the rules and regulations of the Michigan Department of Transportation and the Federal Transit Administration.
