Thruway Sporting Goods is looking for qualified candidates who are familiar with fishing, firearms, hunting and shooting sports to join their team.
Goals
- To provide ongoing high level of customer service.
- To increase sales through service, knowledge, and sales techniques.
- To provide a comfortable and friendly environment for our customers.
Specific duties relating to goals:
- Approach each customer with a friendly greeting when they enter the store and your department. Check back periodically with customers to re-engage.
- Make smart product suggestions to fit the needs/desire of the customers based on interaction.
- Give examples of how products work, benefits of specific products and materials. Gain this knowledge through ongoing training from in-store and online resources.
- Make suggestions to add on and increase the sale.
- Ask the customers for feedback on products that we currently carry or items that they would like to see in the store. Share with Managers.
- Walk the floor constantly, making sure that the area is clean and organized
- Vacuum, clean, dust or sweep when necessary
- Keep tripping hazards, boxes, tools, ladders, etc. off the sales floor
- Keep personal talk to a minimum and never engage in political or other sensitive conversations with customers.
- Fill in merchandise, receive shipments, maintain visual presentation, and perform other tasks as directed.
Other required duties
- Maintain vigilance for suspicious activity or shoplifting and inform investigations promptly when necessary.
- Cover breaks or other departments when asked and run registers when necessary.
Position requirements
- Knowledge of firearms, hunting and shooting supplies is required.
- New York State pistol permit is preferred
- Bow technician skills highly desired
- Friendly, outgoing and positive attitude
- Strong communication skills
- Neatness and cleanliness
- Ability to interact with customers, ask questions, and listen
- Willingness to help in any situation
Organizational structure and hierarchy
- Position will report to all members of Management. Tasks will be assigned by managers.
- Schedule will be created and maintained by Store Managers
- Salesperson will work together with other employees to complete projects and assist customers
- Director of Investigations has authority to direct salespeople regarding security issues
