Job Summary

We are looking for a Medical Assistant who is compassionate, dependable, adaptable, and ready to jump in wherever needed. In a small community clinic, no two days are exactly alike—and that's part of what makes the job fun. One minute you may be rooming a patient, the next you may be helping with a procedure, answering a question, or tracking down the missing piece of a chart, the variety keeps the day moving.

Our Medical Assistants are an important part of the ThriveWell team. You will work closely with our providers and support staff to provide safe, efficient, respectful, and genuinely compassionate care to patients of all ages.

What You'll Do:

Patient Care

• Welcome and room patients with a friendly, professional attitude.
• Obtain and document accurate vital signs, medical histories, medications, allergies, and other pertinent information.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and patient care.
• Perform clinical duties within your training, certification, and scope of practice.
• Assist with, specimen collection, injections, medication administration, wound care, testing, and other clinical procedures as directed and as training allows.
• Recognize changes in a patient's condition and communicate concerns promptly to the provider.
• Help create a calm, respectful, and comfortable experience for patients—even when they're nervous, uncomfortable, or having a really bad day.

Clinic Operations

• Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are clean, organized, and properly stocked.
• Clean and sterilize equipment according to clinic protocols.
• Maintain infection-control and safety standards.
• Keep supplies organized and communicate when inventory needs to be replenished.
• Help keep patient flow moving efficiently while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
• Assist with point-of-care testing.
• Assist with procedures and other services offered by the clinic as trained and directed.

Documentation & Technology

• Accurately document patient information, vital signs, medications, procedures, and other clinical information in the EHR.
• Assist providers with accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements.
• Utilize clinic technology and systems appropriately and efficiently.
• Understand the importance of accurate documentation for patient safety, continuity of care, billing, and compliance.

Patient Communication & Service

• Answer patient questions within your scope of practice and direct clinical questions appropriately.
• Assist with appointment scheduling, referrals, follow-up communications, and other patient needs.
• Communicate professionally with patients, families, pharmacies, laboratories, specialists, and other healthcare organizations.
• Treat every patient with dignity, compassion, and respect.
• Help patients navigate the healthcare system when possible and know when to ask for help.

Qualifications

• Previous Medical Assistant experience preferred, but not required.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred, but not required.
• Current BLS certification required or willingness to obtain within the required timeframe.
• Current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant preferred (but not required), depending on applicable Oregon requirements and assigned duties.
• Experience with an EHR/EMR system preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and basic clinical procedures.
• Phlebotomy and injection experience preferred, but not required.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a small team.
• Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced outpatient environment.
• Must be willing to learn and perform duties within appropriate training and scope of practice.
• Applicant must be able to pass drug screen and background check.
